The goat herder
This is the story of the killer goat.
Some time ago I started a report on the life of this goatherd. I shared several days with her. I accompanied her on her long walks with the goats. She was a tough and lonely woman. She told me that she had come to the village with a boyfriend she had and that they had bought the goats. After a while he abandoned her and left her in charge of the farm.She rarely let me take pictures of the goats, she told me «I don’t like the camera».
A few months ago I received the most horrible news I can imagine.
In 2017 they found this farm with more than 300 goat carcasses. They had been abandoned for months. They died in a long agony, locked up they were getting dehydrated and malnourished. About 30 survived.
It revolted me. What unimaginable but true cruelty.
This human being was ruthless… and, despite the agonizing and atrocious suffering he caused in these living beings, she lives «free» …..
I often think about it and my heart shrinks.
